The Eastview PTA is continually searching for ways to build our sense of school
community. We hosted the Parent Social a few weeks ago, offered the ice cream social for
families, and now we would like to offer a mentor program for those who would like to be
We are sure many of you remember the feeling of being new either at school, work, or in
the neighborhood. It can be overwhelming and intimidating! Our hopes for creating a mentor
program is to match new or even existing members of the Eastview community with “veterans”
who may be able to offer support, answer questions, or to simply be a familiar face at a school
event, such as the Holiday concert.
As a mentor, you and your family will make a connection via email, phone call, or in
person to a family interested in the program. You will do your best to answer questions
regarding the ins and outs of Eastview, not necessarily just PTA related. Our hope is by having
a supportive, current member of the school community, families will feel welcomed and become
an active member of our school.
As a mentee, you and your family will use your connection with the mentor family to
hopefully feel more comfortable in our school community. You can contact the mentor family to
ask questions you may not know who else to ask, or just to have a buddy to come with you to
the next PTA meeting!
Our ultimate goal for this program is to grow a larger sense of community at our school.
Our school is already awesome, but we can always make it better! We want all families to feel
connected, welcomed, and part of the school community. In addition we hope the new families
will participate in all of the happenings here at our school.
