Eastview Read-a-Thon - November 7th - 18th
Eastview PTA sponsors a yearly Read-a-Thon to encourage reading by providing extra incentives to read, while serving as a fundraiser for Eastview’s Library. This year’s Read- a-Thon will take place from Monday, November 7th through Friday, November 18th. Students will be encouraged to get “ALL-IN to Reading” and reminded to get “ALL-IN to a Good Book” every night. Students can earn reading minutes during this 2-week period by reading themselves or by having someone read to them. Students will earn 1 reading slip for every 15 minutes of reading done outside the classroom. Reading slips will be collected and tallied daily for each classroom. For every 20 reading slips turned in per classroom, one “basketball” will be added to the basketball hoop outside that classroom’s door. Students who bring in reading slips are eligible for daily prize drawings. In addition, there will be an intra-grade competition with each grade having a class winner at the end of the 2 weeks. The winning class from each grade will receive an ice cream party. Parents and family members can show additional support for their child’s reading by pledging money for the minutes their child reads. Sponsorship money will be used to purchase new books for Eastview’s library. Read-a-thon information packets will come home Thursday or Friday. Students can start reading on Friday and begin to bring in slips on Monday!
