Tax Exempt-how to use exemption form, cannot reimburse for tax
We finished the year 17,000 above budget. The playground is completely paid off and we also funded all of the new items in the library! Of the monies that we were above budget on we do owe some money still to the Ohio PTA. That amount is roughly $800.00. In addition, we gave out community service awards which is a new category. Carnival is truly an event to make money so that got moved up in the budget. There really are not too many changes in the budget. There was a motion to accept the budget. Megan reviewed how to submit a check request form properly. Sales tax is not reimbursed, however, there are tax exempt forms available.
CONQUER THE COURSE (Megan DeVere/Beth Wallace)
This event will be on September 21 st . This event helps fund the PTA. So, anything that is
brought in from this event helps fund many many events throughout the year for the kids and school. Last year we brought in about $7,000. MUMKINS is a fundraiser for the principal’s fund. That money is used for the school assemblies, things for the staff and lunches with other principals, etc. All events are on the website and facebook. Emails are also sent home withreminders.

Open Committee Positions
Superintendent's Report (Mr. Scott)
Avon Lake Schools has 3 emergency levys. They are all fixed levys. This is better for the district. We are also a capped district and each year we get about 2 million from the state. This is really a renewal levy. Over 80 percent of our funding comes from our own tax payers. Avon Lake won’t be getting additional monies from the state in essence because we are a thriving community. There are about 525 staff members in Avon Lake Schools. Avon Lake High School is the biggest it has been ever. Total students is about 3912. Who wants to be on the sign committee? Testing was brought up. Can we push the test dates back please? There is a window that the district is able to do the testing and they “can look at it.” Another question was brought up to at least push it back until after Labor Day. There was a clarification that MAPS tests are not the only parameter to determine advanced classes. Classes are often hot and nothing is perfect. Some of these buildings would need very major costly work to improve things. It is not that easy. Avon is behind on the calendar. The heat factor is truly up to chance. Pushing back the date sounds great although parents who have high schoolers do not like the idea of going later.
